Mental Health & Child Care: Safeguarding Children whose Carer has a Mental Health Problem

This course is appropriate for staff who work with children or adults. This includes:
- Those who work directly with children
- Those who work parents/carers who have a mental health problem. (For Bolton Mental Health Directorate staff, it is for professionally qualified staff.)
Course Duration: 2 Days
Dates: 3 & 4 December 2008
Times: 9.30am - 4.30pm (Lunch is provided)
Course Objectives:
This course will increase the knowledge and skill of adult and older people's mental health staff and child care staff when working with families where parental mental health is an issue and there are child care concerns.
By the end of the course the participant will:
- Have increased their understanding of how adult
mental ill-health affects parenting
- Have increased their understanding of the needs of children within vulnerable families
- Have a better understanding of the child care system
- Have a better understanding of the adult & older people mental health system(s)
- Be in a position to work more effectively with professionals in other agencies
